About the event
7:00 to 7:30 Drop off your donated specimens for the addition of an auction bid number. View auction items; each will have a temporary number to help you make a personal bid list.
7:30 to 7:45 Brief announcements and election of CMS officers.
7:45 to 8:00 Last Look. Get your personal numbered paddle from the auction team. Make a set-back
tag using your paddle number; give that tag to the auction team for the back table.
8:00 to 9:20 Live auction. Each item bid number will be announced. Bidding to be fast paced. We will auction 65+ items in 80 minutes, so be prepared for a quick “hammer”. Auctioneers will set bid items on the back table for later pickup. There may be a brief mid-break.
9:20 to 10:00 Settle-up and pack. Please provide your own flat; wrapping paper furnished.
Auction Items: This will be a special auction as all specimens are donated by members. Many of us have worked with our collections in the past months and found we really don’t need so many duplicates, or perhaps we now want to focus our collection differently. We were always going to do that “one of these days”..…well, Covid days came, and we did. These auction items are quite nice and may be good additions to your collection. They range in value from $5 to $100, and up. There will be a couple dozen from the Huizing collection, including two items acquired from the 2020 CMS auction previously donated by Carol Finnie … a very nice stibnite crystal group (seems that I already had its identical cousin) and a nice English calcite that did not survive my downsizing…..and that’s only the ones that I have observed so far. In addition to minerals, there will be books, posters, lapidary materials and, several specimens that glow under UV lamps.
Note: Covid social distancing rules are in effect for this meeting. There is lots of space to spread out. Chairs will be 6-feet apart; OK to group families. The Park board suggests wearing of masks. As always, healthy guests are most welcome at our meetings.
