About the event
Speaker: Jamshid Ahmadi, M.S., Miami University, Oxford, Ohio
Topic: Minerals and Mineral Localities of Iran
Jamshid Ahmadi earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Zanjan and a master’s degree in economic geology from the University of Tehran, Iran. After completing his studies, he worked for several years at an international mineral engineering company, where he focused on prospecting and evaluating mineral deposits, including gold, copper, chromium, and iron.
Alongside his work and research, Jamshid enjoys prospecting and collecting minerals. This passion ultimately inspired him to shift his career toward academic research in mineralogy, which led him to Miami University where he joined John Rakovan’s group. At Miami University his research focuses on isotope geochemistry, specifically in areas such as mantle evolution, volcanic eruptions, and the formation of mineral deposits and hydrothermal systems. Jamshid is recent recipient of the Cincinnati Mineral Society Educational Foundation research grant.
