About the event

Speaker: Pete Heckscher, proprietor of the Crystal Circle family business

Topic: Tucson, Arizona show. A Mineral Dealer’s Perspective.

The Tucson Show…ahhh yes, the world’s largest showing of gemstones, fossils, minerals, and anything remotely associated with the Earth sciences. The 2024 version (now in its’69th year) was celebrated over a full three weeks by vendors and visitors from 44 nations and from a like number of states (Chamber of Commerce data) at well-over 40 different venues. The locals acknowledge “it’s bigger than the Rodeo”, a traditional major event in Arizona. Sales happen in a multiplicity of showrooms ranging from the Convention Center to hotels, to purpose-built structures and a variety of (huge) climate-controlled tents.

There are many changes taking place in the mineral marketplace that may surprise folks who don’t often attend the Tucson Show. Fortunately, Pete Heckscher, the now 27-year proprietor of the Crystal Circle family business (with Wendy and Jack) has agreed to share his observations with us. Pete is well-placed to understand the impact some of these changes may have on the mineral marketplace. He will also show images of specimens being displayed or offered for sale at the recent event. In essence, this will be a not-to-be-missed virtual visit to the 2024Tucson Show, through the eyes of an expert.

The program is fit for every age, and guests are welcome at our meetings.
